The tale of paranormal investigators and eliminators 

were my first obsession. 

And as I grew, 

And my loves expanded,

I came to a realization 

To what I am.

As I sit, I ponder the insubstantial.

I contemplate the fantastic

The tales of imagination

And the worlds made in creator's heads given life

Are my main past time. 

While others obsess over the news or celebrity gossip, 

my mind wanders to the mechanics of things.

I analyze the pieces of stories,

Seeing if it all makes sense. 

I keep up with the layman's news, yes.

 But the news of new toys, news shows and new movies 

Get my focus more than others. 

I also focus upon the leaps and bounds of technology. 

The advances in robotics holds a particular interest

I pray for the day when they become big enough to pilot.

But above all, I adore the supermen. 

I marvel at their feats, feel elation at their triumphs,

And find myself melancholy at their struggles and failures. 

I take all countries, races, genders, colors and creeds

But I always find myself drawn towards those of African persuasion.

It gives my inner child a sense of wonder and acceptance.

And the land of the rising son has given me such joy.

The screaming of power levels,

the books read backwards about master assassins turned superheroic ronin, 

And the legacy of men who say "Henshin!" 

All give me great bliss.

My skin is black.

My gender is male. 

But most of all, I am a nerd. 

I am a nerd.

And I wouldn't have it any other way.
